Ethnocultural Preferences of Young People and Their Willingness to Enter Into Interethnic Marriage (on the Example of the Republic of Tatarstan)

The relevance of the research is determined by the need to strengthen national unity and harmonize interethnic relations in modern Russia, especially in the context of a multinational population and migration processes. Of particular importance is the study of youth's readiness for interethnic marriages as an indicator of interethnic integration.
The purpose of the study is to study the ethnocultural preferences and willingness of young people to enter into interethnic marriages using the example of the Republic of Tatarstan as a multicultural region.
Research objectives: to analyze the attitudes of young people towards interethnic marriages, to identify factors influencing readiness for interethnic unions, to identify differences in attitudes towards interethnic marriages depending on socio-demographic characteristics; to study the main reasons for rejecting interethnic marriages.
The scientific novelty of the study lies in a comprehensive study of the perception of interethnic marriages among young people in a particular region, which made it possible to identify patterns in attitudes towards interethnic marriages, determine the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics and readiness for interethnic unions, and expand understanding of the factors influencing the decision to create an interethnic family.
The practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the results of the research can be used: in the development of state policy in the field of interethnic relations; in the formation of programs to strengthen national unity; in the creation of measures to increase the level of mutual understanding between ethnic groups; in educational activities to foster tolerance.
The study showed that the majority of young people demonstrate openness to interethnic marriages, although certain barriers and traditional attitudes remain. The results obtained make it possible to develop effective measures to strengthen interethnic harmony and develop tolerance in society.
