Problems of Legal Regulation of the Murder of a Newborn Child by a Mother

Currently, there is an increase in crimes against minors in the Russian Federation. In this paper, the authors paid attention to the peculiarities of the qualification of the murder of a newborn child by a mother. The purpose of the article is to develop criminal law measures to counteract this negative phenomenon. The tasks are: to identify problems arising in the qualification of this act; to develop proposals for improving current legislation; to consider issues related to the moment of the beginning of life and the consolidation of the legal status of the embryo. The scientific and practical significance is due to the fact that the authors have identified gaps in the current legislation in the field of the murder of a newborn child by a mother. The main results were proposals for amendments and additions to the current criminal legislation of the Russian Federation. The value of the conducted research lies in the possibility of increasing the effectiveness of countering the murders of a newborn child by mothers.
