Demand for Digital Sociology as a Field of Professional Activity

Abstract
The digital transformation of modern society leads to an increase in the importance of data processing and analysis procedures when making management decisions. New niches in the labor market are emerging for specialists who are able to analyze and use large amounts of data. In this regard, it is becoming relevant to open educational programs in universities that provide professional training in accordance with the needs of the labor sphere.
The purpose of the scientific article is to determine the potential and specifics of digital sociology as a sphere of future professional activity of students majoring in Sociology. To achieve this goal, the content of educational programs of leading universities in Russia was analyzed, and the attitude of sociology students to the implementation of educational programs in digital sociology in universities was studied.
The scientific significance of the study lies in identifying the advantages of training specialists in digital sociology and the presence of motivation among students to master this area of professional activity. The results of the study can be used in the development of educational programs in universities.
The article, based on the analysis of scientific literature, statistical data, documents of educational institutions posted in the public domain, and the results of a survey of students, clarifies the content of the concept of “digital sociology” and substantiates the prospects of obtaining an education in the field of digital sociological research.
