Existential Understanding of Social Loneliness in Sociology

The relevance of the research topic is due to the public and professional demand for new models of conceptualization of the acute problem of social loneliness. The main goal of the study is the reconceptualization of social loneliness through the prism of existential theory. The goal was operationalized in the following tasks: distinguishing between social and existential loneliness; identifying the most relevant categories of existential theory for conceptualizing social loneliness; developing a theoretical model of social loneliness in the context of existential theory. Scientific significance lies in highlighting a new understanding of loneliness as a concept constructed through alienation. Practical significance lies in the prospects of the developed model for practical studies of loneliness. The scientific novelty of the study is derived from the absence of a wide number of works in which social loneliness would be understood in the context of existential theories in sociology.
