Abstract

The article examines the historical development and current state of health resort treatment and recreation, from the inception of this system in Russia to the analysis of various international approaches in Europe, Asia, and America. Special attention is paid to the adaptation of health resort complexes to modern trends and needs, including healthcare innovations, sustainable development, and the integration of traditional and alternative medicine. The authors explore the socio-economic benefits of health resort tourism for regions, such as job creation and promotion of local culture, as well as prospects for further industry development.
Based on a comparative analysis of international experience, the article emphasizes the importance of individual treatment programs, environmental practices, and adaptation to market competition, which becomes necessary in the context of globalization and growing popularity of alternative types of tourism. The article focuses on key areas for improving health resort complexes in Russia, such as the need for infrastructure modernization, attracting investments, and developing medical tourism strategy.
