Digital Inequality and State Competitiveness: Theoretical Approaches
Abstract
The paper focuses on theoretical conceptualization of the phenomenon of digital divide and its connection with territorial competitiveness. Based on an analysis of the concept of digital transformation and, as its result, digital divide, a relation with competitiveness has been identified at the level of states and regions within a country. The author concludes that, despite the benefits of the digitalisation of the economy, the digital divide is a serious factor potentially hindering the country's competitiveness and needs additional measures from the state.
